This was my very first C.J. Cherryh book, and it still reads well, after I first read it, in I re-read Tripoint to re-read it, and to reacquaint myself with the Alliance-Union story world, in preparation for the release of Alliance Rising, which, I am led to understand, is soon to be published. In Hellburner, she focuses clearly on trying to get the ship to work. In this twenty years revenge tale, the context is everything that has occurred over the last twenty or so years at Mariner, Viking, Pell, Tripoint, the Rim Stations, Sol, and on the two ships that are the focus of the novel: Sprite and Corinthian. Tripoint was my first www.doorway.ruh novel, and sci-fi book for many years. I came across it totallly by accident on special display at the library. The cover was the usual OK graphics associated with the genre, but the fly-leaf suggested something more interesting.
